bvandeusenandClaude Opus 5.5	fb99f8b551	feat(backup): restore from Settings → Backups, with restoring mode (#5816, #5817) ... #5816 "Restoring mode": while a backup goes back in, the scheduler holds, ingest and HTMX answer 503 with Retry-After (agents keep their samples), and every page says what is happening. A safety backup of Steward as it stands is made first, to /data/backups and the bucket. The backup's key is put in place, the restore audited, and Steward exits with code 3 so Swarm, compose or systemd starts it fresh. A failed in-place restore changes nothing and says why on Backups; a full replace that fails after the wipe restarts into first-run setup. #5817 "Settings → Backups: Restore": a Restore button on each sent backup and on the file card. The chosen backup is checked (the same comparison as Check, now a shared partial) and held server-side for an hour under a token; it starts only once the admin types "restore", and an older backup also needs "Replace everything" ticked. A newer backup, or one whose key can't open its secrets, gets no button. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>	2026-10-15 11:03:01 -04:00
bvandeusenandClaude Opus 5.5	401bfb5251	fix(scheduler): a task marked not to run on startup waits an interval after boot (#5431) ... _DueTracker counted a task that had never run from 0 on the loop clock, which is host uptime, so every run_on_startup=False task (hourly data cleanup with the Docker log prune, the weekly report check, alert reconcile, agent age, Ansible schedules) fired on the first tick after each deploy, while agents were flushing their backlog. Agent ingest was slow or dropped for a few minutes after every deploy. start_scheduler now calls tracker.begin(): such a task is first due one interval after the loop starts. bvandeusenandClaude Opus 4.8	f40063a74d	feat(reliability): fd-leak rails — self-watchdog, poll-overlap guard, fd tests ... Guardrails so the fd-leak class of bug (Errno 24 lockup; recent SNMP + UniFi fixes) surfaces early or can't compound, instead of silently killing the app. - Self-fd watchdog (steward/core/self_monitor.py): records open_fds and open_fds_pct (% of soft RLIMIT_NOFILE) as "steward"/"process" metrics each minute through the normal alert pipeline, so the operator can alert on them via the existing alert-rules UI. Built-in WARNING floor at 80% gives a zero-config early signal. Stdlib-only (/proc + resource); degrades to a no-op off Linux. Registered as a core ScheduledTask in app.py. - Poll-overlap guard (steward/core/scheduler.py): extract a pure _DueTracker that skips a tick while a task's prior run is still in flight, so a hung poll can't stack overlapping runs (which amplify per-poll resource/fd use). A skipped task isn't penalised — it retries the next tick after it completes. - fd-stability tests (tests/core/): _DueTracker overlap policy, the watchdog metric/warning/degradation paths, and a real-fd canary that hammers tcp_check and asserts /proc/self/fd doesn't grow. bvandeusenandClaude Opus 4.7	88ab5b917e	chore: rename project Roundtable → Steward ... Renames the Python package directory, CLI command, env var prefix, docker-compose service/container/image, Postgres role/db, and all visible branding. Marketing form is "Fabled Steward". Clean break from the previous rebrand: drops the fabledscryer→roundtable import shim in __init__.py and the FABLEDSCRYER_* env var fallback in config.py and migrations/env.py. Env vars are now STEWARD_* only. Heads-up for existing deployments: - Postgres user/db renamed fabledscryer → steward in docker-compose.yml. Existing volumes need the role/db renamed inside Postgres, or override POSTGRES_USER/POSTGRES_DB to keep the old names. - Host-agent systemd unit is now steward-agent.service. Existing agents keep running under the old name; reinstall to switch. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.7 <noreply@anthropic.com>	2026-04-25 16:20:14 -04:00
